Together with Create Hong Kong and the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) is supporting the screening of 13 Hong Kong films at the 24th Far East Film Festival (FEFF) in Udine, Italy from 22 to 30 April 2022.
The special programme of films by new and emerging Hong Kong talents, titled "Making Waves – Navigators of Hong Kong Cinema", also includes a virtual exhibition of the work of four still photographers, each telling a unique story of Hong Kong cinema.
Udine is the first stop on a world tour of the film programme, which is part of the celebratory events for the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). After Udine, the "Making Waves" programme will be held in 12 more world cities, before coming home to Hong Kong.
The programme's opening film, "Twelve Days", was screened at a Hong Kong Film Night on 23 April. Deputy Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Mr Henry Tsoi, addressed guests at the networking reception attended by representatives of the international cinema and cultural scene. He remarked that international filmmakers had for many years been inspired by the creativity and artistry of Hong Kong actors and filmmakers, and the HKSAR Government would continue to support the Hong Kong film industry to join international film festivals.
Mr Tsoi added that he was delighted that a few Hong Kong talents had joined the festival in person to showcase their works. He also highlighted that 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. He invited guests from all over the world, including Italy, to come to Hong Kong after the pandemic to join the celebratory events and explore the vibrant arts and cultural scene of the city in person.
