SITGES International Film Festival of Catalonia

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Brussels, together with Create Hong Kong and Film Development Fund, are pleased to support the 56th SITGES - International Film Festival of Catalonia, which will feature five Hong Kong films:

• Mad Fate, directed by Soi Cheang (2023
• Let it Ghost, directed by Hoi Wong (2022)
• Where the Wind Blows, directed by Philip Yung (2022)
• The Dragon Lives Again, directed by Lo Ke (1977)
• Enter the Game of Death, directed by Joseph Velasco and To Lo Po (1978)

The HKETO, Brussels hosted a reception on 8 October 2023 to promote the Hong Kong productions to media representatives and film industry professionals.

In her welcoming remarks, the Special Representative for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs to the European Union, Ms Shirley Yung, said that shaped by its unique history and way of life, Hong Kong is an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange.

"With its strategic location at the heart of Asia, Hong Kong will continue to be an important place for connecting cities and countries, providing a hub for different cultures to meet, collaborate and evolve," she added.

Ms Yung said that tourists and business visitors alike were flocking to Hong Kong as it abounded with colourful festivals, wonderful exhibitions and cultural events. She invited guests to come and check out the vibrant cultural scene of Hong Kong for themselves.

Established in 1968, the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is the leading fantasy film festival in the world and welcomed more than 139 000 visitors in 2022. It screens films related to the fantastic genre, including action and adventure movies and black comedies, with a special emphasis on thrillers.

Mad Fate is the exciting new thriller by the director of Limbo, Soi Cheang.

Horror-comedy Let It Ghost is the feature debut of Hoi Wong after directing his short film Big Wok Chief (2019)

Philip Yung's epic thriller Where the Wind Blows features a stellar cast headed by Tony Leung and Aaron Kwok.

Shown in the Sitges Classics selection, Lo Ke's The Dragon Lives Again is a 1977 Hong Kong martial arts fantasy comedy film in which the soul of Bruce Lee, played by Bruce Leung Siu-lung, goes to the Underworld.

Bruce Lee/martial arts/action movie aficionados will enjoy Enter the Game of Death, a kung fu exploitation film by Joseph Velasco and To Lo Po, starring "Bruce Le".
