Tan Dun invites soprano Candice Chung to take part in Rome performance of his work Buddha Passion

Internationally renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun has invited young Hong Kong soprano Candice Chung to take part in the Italian premiere of his new work, Buddha Passion in Rome, where he is conducting the Orchestra and Choir of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia on 23-25 November 2023.

Tan Dun was appointed as Hong Kong's Ambassador for Cultural Promotion by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau on 1 January 2023 for a period of five years. With the support of the Hong Kong SAR Government's Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Tan Dun helps young Hong Kong artists to showcase their talent around the world by arranging for them to take part in international arts festivals and concerts, including performances of his work he conducted in the Netherlands, Xian and Edinburgh earlier this year.

Tan will continue to explore opportunities for local young artists to perform on global stages in the coming months to enrich their experience and broaden their international vision, so as to tie in with the strategy of the National 14th Five-Year Plan that supports Hong Kong to develop into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchanges.
