The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO, Brussels) was proud to support a remarkable evening of cross-cultural artistic exchange at the Music Biennale Zagreb on 12 April. Held at Tvornica Kulture, the cultural reception and concert featured the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble (HKNME), one of Asia's leading contemporary music groups.
The programme, rich with emotional and intellectual depth, featured newly commissioned works by composers Sonja Mutic, Pilar Miralles, Angus Lee, and Camilo Mendez. Each piece offered a unique perspective on themes of displacement, identity, and fractured human relationships—explored through bold, modern soundscapes that captivated the audience. This East-meets-West collaboration marked a powerful cultural dialogue, underscoring music's universal power to transcend borders and build understanding.
HKNME's European tour continued in Vigo, Spain, where they performed on 15 April at the Museo do Mar de Galicia. The ensemble's inventive and multinational performance delighted the audience, who responded enthusiastically to the originality and creativity on display.
As HKNME carries Hong Kong's vibrant contemporary music scene across Europe, their performances continue to leave a lasting impression—celebrating diversity, dialogue, and the global spirit of artistic innovation.
